We use terms from the GDPR (article 4) and the BDSG in our privacy policy and describe them here to enable you to access the privacy policy.
"Personal data"
means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person ('data subject'); an identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity of that natural person.
"Processing"
means any operation or set of operations which is performed on personal data or on sets of personal data, whether or not by automated means, such as collection, recording, organisation, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or otherwise making available, alignment or combination, restriction, erasure or destruction.
"Restriction of processing"
means the marking of stored personal data with the aim of limiting their processing in the future.
"Controller"
means the natural or legal person, public authority, agency or other body which, alone or jointly with others, determines the purposes and means of the processing of personal data; where the purposes and means of such processing are determined by Union or Member State law, the controller or the specific criteria for its nomination may be provided for by Union or Member State law.
"Processor"
means a natural or legal person, public authority, agency or other body which processes personal data on behalf of the controller.
"Recipient"
means a natural or legal person, public authority, agency or another body, to which the personal data are disclosed, whether a third party or not. However, public authorities which may receive personal data in the framework of a particular inquiry in accordance with Union or Member State law shall not be regarded as recipients; the processing of those data by those public authorities shall be in compliance with the applicable data protection rules according to the purposes of the processing.
"Third party"
means a natural or legal person, public authority, agency or body other than the data subject, controller, processor and persons who, under the direct authority of the controller or processor, are authorised to process personal data.
"'Consent' of the data subject"
means any freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous indication of the data subject's wishes by which he or she, by a statement or by a clear affirmative action, signifies agreement to the processing of personal data relating to him or her.
"Supervisory Authority"
means an independent public authority which is established by a Member State pursuant to article 51 of the GDPR.
Overview of the processing activity
General
We store data about accesses to the website as so-called server log files on the website server. The server log files we store contain the following data:
- Visited website
- Time of access
- Amount of data sent in bytes
- Source/reference from which you reached the page
- Browser used
- Operating system used
- IP address used
article 6 (1), subparagraph 1 lit. f) GDPR applies as the legal basis for processing. We collect data on the basis of our legitimate interest without jeopardising the interests, fundamental rights or freedoms of the data subject. Optimising the website and ensuring the security and stability of our information technology systems are the legitimate interests of EIP as the controller.
The recipient of your personal data is our service provider for our website, the media agency Igloo.
The server log files are usually stored for 60 days and then deleted. The data is stored for security reasons e.g., to be able to clarify cases of misuse. The server log files may be stored for longer if this is necessary for the above-mentioned purposes, in particular for exercising our legal rights. If data must be retained for evidentiary reasons, it is exempt from deletion until the incident has been finally clarified.
Collection and processing of personal data for downloading resources
EIP's website offers some resources created by our patent specialists to help your business maximise the value of your intellectual property which downloading requires the processing of personal data. We may collect the following personal data: First name, last name, job title including the name of your company and contact information including your email address,. We generally do not collect any of the personal data mentioned in article 9 (1) GDPR.

Your personal data will be stored for a maximum of two years after providing it to us.
You have the right to revoke your consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of the processing carried out until revocation.
Collection and processing of personal data for the application form
EIP's website offers you the possibility to apply for vacancies directly through the application form on our website which requires the processing of personal data. We may collect the following personal data: First name, last name, job title, contact information including email address and telephone number, demographic information such as postcode, preferences and interests, other information relevant to your application. We generally do not collect any of the personal data mentioned in article 9 (1) GDPR.
The legal basis for this is article 6 (1) subparagraph 1 lit. a) GDPR.
The recipient of your personal data is EIP.
Your personal data will be stored for a maximum of five years after providing it to us. If there is a legal obligation to retain the data, it will be deleted after this retention period.
You have the right to revoke your consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of the processing carried out until revocation.
Collection and processing of personal data for the contact form
The contact form is an offer from EIP. If you wish to make use of this offer, we will process the information you enter in fields such as name, company, telephone number and e-mail address and (if specified by you) additional personal data, but only for the purposes you specify as the purpose of the contact. We generally do not collect any of the personal data mentioned in article 9 (1) GDPR.
The legal basis for this is article 6 (1) subparagraph 1 lit. a) GDPR.
The recipient of your personal data is EIP.
Your data will be processed for the purpose of the contact request and deleted after five years. If there is a legal obligation to retain the data, it will be deleted after this retention period.

Reach measurement & cookies
This website uses cookies for pseudonymised reach measurement, which are transferred to the user's browser either from our server or the server of a third party. Cookies are small files that are stored on your end device. Your browser accesses these files. The use of cookies increases the user-friendliness and security of this website.

Rights of the user
Here we present the rights that data subjects have under the GDPR. In principle, the data subject can contact us as the controller (see above for contact details) about his or her rights at any time.
You have the right to request information free of charge about which personal data is processed about you (article 15 GDPR).
You also have the right to have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected and completed (article 16 GDPR) and the right to have processing of your personal data restricted (article 18 GDPR) or to have your personal data erased (article 17 GDPR). Your right to erasure depends, among other things, on whether the data concerning you is still needed by us to fulfil our legal tasks.
If applicable, you can also exercise your right to data portability (article 20 GDPR). You may also exercise your right to object to the processing of your personal data at any time (article 21 GDPR).
